2023-24 Social Media Policy

Henry M. Jackson PTSA hosts social media pages (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, etc.) that are intended to provide updated information, news, stories from our PTSA, ways members and the community can get involved, and an open discussion. Henry M. Jackson PTSA is, above everything, a child advocate association; all posts by the Henry M. Jackson PTSA concern aspects of the whole child.

Henry M. Jackson PTSA encourages respectful conversation and debate. Members participating are responsible for their own conduct, taking personal responsibility for your comments, username, and any information you provide. While Henry M. Jackson PTSA welcomes your questions and comments in an open forum, it is mindful to remember manners and courtesy, so everyone feels comfortable participating.

To keep an open and constructive dialogue, it is insisted that all of our social media audience (e.g., Instagram followers, Facebook friends, etc.) adhere to the guidelines listed below. Henry M. Jackson PTSA reserves the right to remove any comment that does not comply with the following guidelines:

• Respect other members’ positions and philosophies.
• Off-topic posts of any kind will not be allowed; please keep comments and posts clean and relevant.
• Henry M. Jackson PTSA does not allow graphic, obscene, explicit, or racial comments or posts. In addition, Henry M. Jackson PTSA does not allow comments that are abusive, hateful, or intended to defame anyone or any association; harassment and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
• Advertisements, endorsements, or promotions of third party solicitations will not be allowed.
• To maintain nonpartisanship, endorsements or opposition of political candidates are not allowed. Any posts by others about a candidate is not an endorsement or opposition by the Henry M. Jackson PTSA.
• Comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity will not be tolerated.
• Spam is not allowed and will be removed.
• Personal information including email addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, or any type of identification numbers will be removed.
• Posting photographs or images of any volunteers, families, students, etc. will not be posted on any social media site without having permission to do so.

The appearance of external links on a Henry M. Jackson PTSA social media page does not constitute official endorsement on behalf of the Henry M. Jackson PTSA or our members.
